What is pure ammonia
Ammonia is an aqueous solution of ammonia. If you have to say pure ammonia, you can barely say that pure ammonia is an aqueous solution of pure water and ammonia.
Ammonia is a colorless, transparent or slightly yellowish liquid. Ammonia, an industrial by-product, has different colors because it contains a variety of impurities. Ammonia has a high solubility in water. One volume of water can dissolve 700 volumes of ammonia. However, because ammonia is in an unstable state of combination in the solution, most of it exists in the water in the form of ammonia molecules, and only a part of it is ammonia hydrate (NH3.H2O) and Very little NH4OH is present. Therefore, ammonia water is a weak base (pH around 10), but because ammonia molecules are extremely active, the ammonia water is easy to volatilize at room temperature, which is corrosive to containers and irritating to people. Corrosion-resistant and sealable containers and equipment should be used during storage, transportation and application.
